If you desire information about Abe Lincoln, this is the definitive
website. On the Home page alone you will find out all that’s
happening “this week in History”, “Events Highlights”, and “News
Highlights”, all concerning our 16th President. Also on the Home
page you will find a great little spot where they list the latest
books written about Mr. Lincoln. The links to information about
Abraham Lincoln are numerous and include: NEWS, which offers the
latest updates, PLACES, BOOKS, SPEECHES, RESOURCES, DISCUSSIONS, and
more. A great site that deserves our highest award.
ACCSACW

http://hometown.aol.com/gordonkwok/accsacw.html
This site gets extra consideration for filling a niche that's
extremely hard to find information on. The title stands for the
Association To Commemorate the Chinese Serving in the American Civil
War, and whatever you may need to know about them is here. Great
research site, massive amounts of info in 12 parts. Update 11/03-
has grown from 12 parts to over 30. Loads of new info. Bumped to
5-star site from 4-stars
Andersonville Diary

And Then A.P. Hill Came
Up

http://www.aphillcsa.com/index.html
This is a first-class, highly attractive and informational site on
A.P. Hill. Divided into hubs, the material contained within is
voluminous and superbly presented. The site is designed beautifully
and loads quickly. Too many sections and highlights to list, but
suffice it to say this is THE place for information on Hill.
Wonderful job by the webmaster!
Antietam on the Web

http://aotw.org/
This is definitely a keeper! Beautiful site devoted to the
Sharpsburg action. Pay special attention to the high quality of the
maps here. Definite asset to research on the Internet.

Authentic Campaigner

http://www.authentic-campaigner.com
When it comes to websites for Civil War reenactors and living
historians, this is the king. It's been the best of its kind for
years, but doesn't believe in resting on those laurels - it just
keeps getting better. The heart of the AC site is the forum, and
it's the best there is. Hundreds of informed, courteous enthusiasts
share not only their love for reenacting, but a deep concern over
preservation issues. The site is constantly updated, never stale,
and perfectly administered. This is a web gem that shouldn't be
missed, and certainly deserves our highest rating.

The Battle of Front
Royal Website

http://www.frontroyalbattle.us/index.html
Battle of Gettysburg &
the American Civil War

http://www.brotherswar.com/
A nicely done site with a rather misleading name. While the Battle
of Gettysburg is the main focus, the pages include much more than
that, including Chancellorsville, Fredericksburg, Manassas and more.
The webmaster has done an excellent job of blending informative text
with superb pictures. Pay attention to the navigation bar on the
left, as it changes from page to page meaning there's much more to
the site than it first appears. A very enjoyable website!
Battle of Marianna,
Florida

http://www.battleofmarianna.net/
Another one of those pleasant finds that happens far too seldom. A
beautifully designed site that features both heavily-researched
documentation and gorgeous photography. Focusing on the little-known
battle of Marianna and the even lesser-known Vernon. An excellent
site that deserves our Editor's Choice designation!
Battle of Raymond

Berdan's U.S.
Sharpshooters, Co. C, 2nd Reg.

http://www.berdansharpshooters.com/
Gorgeous site dedicated to one of the premier fighting units of the
war. Webmaster has done a great job incorporating everything the
reader may need to know. History, terminology, artwork, monuments,
photos....it's all here. Very attractive and ambitious. Update
11/03- still one of the most visually appealing sites on the web.
That plus loads of new info get it a bump from 4.5 to 5-stars.

Brooklyn in the Civil
War

http://www.brooklynpubliclibrary.org/civilwar/
Just an excellent all-around site for enthusiasts, students, and
teachers. Sections on Soldiers, Women, Slavery, and Daily Life are
all well done. Be sure to check out the interactive map and other
features found within. Great job by the Brooklyn Public Library!
Camp Chase Gazette

http://www.campchase.com/
When you're in your 31st year as a magazine for Civil War
reenactors, you must be doing something right. CCG is known to many
Civil War reenactors as THE place to go for information, schedules,
and more. The site has been re-done, and very well. Plenty of
articles on the site itself, and even more in their print edition.
Don't miss the "Humor" section - very funny. Also one of the best
links sections for regimental units anywhere. Solid job by a trusted
name in the reenacting world!
Causes of the Civil War

http://members.aol.com/jfepperson/causes.html
This site illustrates clearly that the Internet is the study tool of
the future. Speeches from Lincoln, Toombs, Stephens, and others,
Newspaper articles, first-hand accounts, and so much more! The best
site on causation on the Internet - bar none.
Cedar Creek Battlefield
Foundation

http://www.cedarcreekbattlefield.org/
An attractive site with plenty of information about both the battle
and the group. Several sections deal with ongoing preservation
projects and upcoming events. A nice history of the battle as well
as a newsletter are featured.
Chattanooga 11.25

http://www.mediaalchemy.com/civilwar/index1.htm
This is an interactive road trip to Chattanooga with two guys - Dave
Buckhout and Thomas "T.C." Moore. Both are wed design geniuses with
their respective companies, InHeritage and Media Alchemy. They're
also Civil War buffs and their love shines through on this project.
Touching writing, gorgeous photography and beautiful design. You've
got to see this one!
CivilWarAlbum.com

http://www.civilwaralbum.com/
This site has undergone a complete renovation, making it the
premiere site of it's type on the Internet. Photo-tours of many
battlefields including Shiloh, Fort Donelson, Vicksburg, and more.
New format allows for easy navigation and load time. Bit of
Frassanito-type "then and now" feel to it. Wonderful way to spend
hours touring while never leaving the house!
Civil War Artillery

http://www.civilwarartillery.com
They don't get much better than this. A blending of the most
comprehensive content on the subject of Civil War artillery,
stunning presentation, and intelligent design. Forts, cannon,
projectiles, fuses - anything you need is here. We believe this may
be one of the five best Civil War sites on the Internet.
CivilWar@Smithsonian

http://www.civilwar.si.edu/
You wouldn't expect anything but a top-notch site from the
Smithsonian, and that's what you get here. The site takes you
through a large number of the exhibits at the museum, with a closer
look at all of them. "Special Features", some from other departments
within the Smithsonian, add to the over-all experience. The site
also contains an excellent timeline, among other features.
Well-done, quality site from America's Attic.
Civil War Florida

http://www.civilwarflorida.com/site/news/
A top-notch, enjoyable site. Packed with information about the war
in Florida and more. Clean design and easy navigation is all we ask
for, and this place has both, along with a lively discussion forum.
Webmaster deserves kudos for this site - a great job!
Civil War in Arkansas

http://www.civilwarbuff.org/
Very nice! From the site: "The Civil War in Arkansas website
includes a searchable database so you can find out what happened in
various counties during the war in Arkansas, Civil War stories about
ancestors of current Arkansans, information about several groups in
Arkansas dedicated to recording, reenacting and studying our Civil
War heritage, and an interactive message board in which you can
share all you know (or would like to know) about the Civil War in
Arkansas."
Civil War In New Mexico

Civil War St. Louis

http://www.civilwarstlouis.com/
We've reviewed a lot of sites over the years, but very few have left
us flabbergasted. Until this one, that is. The sheer amount of
information contained here regarding St. Louis in the Civil War is
over-whelming. And it's not just quantity - the quality of the
articles and narratives on this site is superb. The focus is not
just on St. Louis, but also other actions and leaders throughout
that area. Top-notch, awe-inspiring, and certainly worth our highest
award. Great job by the webmasters!
Civil War Richmond

http://www.mdgorman.com/
Wow! That was our first reaction to this site. No town deserves to
have their history told like this more than Richmond. To start with,
it's so well built and laid-out that navigation is a joy. But the
real story lies in its' rich, deep archival history of Civil War-era
Richmond. Period newspapers, photo's, and maps round it out. Special
sections on hospitals and prisons only make it better. You have got
to check out the improvements that this frequently updated site has
implemented. Top-Notch and first class! Great job.
