Andre Braugher to step into Civil War-era play ‘The Whipping Man’ by Matthew Lopez

Emmy winner Andre Braugher will star in the New York premier of Matthew Lopez’s Civil War-era play “The Whipping Man.”

Manhattan Theatre Club says Braugher will play one of two newly freed former slaves who welcome home a severely wounded Jewish Confederate officer in Virginia. The casting for the other parts will be announced later.
