Civil War group to discuss postal service Nov. 28

Rob Tong of the 57th Ohio from Findlay is speaking about “The U.S. Postal Service in the Civil War” at the regional Johnson’s Island Civil War Roundtable at 7 p.m. Nov. 28 at T.J. Willie’s Restaurant, 738 W. Market St.

The communication of mail between soldiers on duty and to and from loved ones was an important moral boost, especially to those confined in prisons on both sides.
