Civil War soldiers bore brunt of winter

FEELS DOWNRIGHT NIPPY, doesn’t it? Just imagine how cold it felt to the common soldier serving here in the winter of 1862-63.

Clad in thin wool coats, they shivered and suffered as autumn faded and frigid weather took hold.

Remembering their sacrifice seems like a good tonic to help ward off the onset of modern life’s winter blues.
