Tour offers glimpse of a Civil War Christmas

Trees trimmed with tinsel and extravagant presents weren’t part of the experience for soldiers fighting the Civil War, and likewise the tours this weekend at the Florida Agricultural Museum were devoid of the glitz associated with the season.

“This is a unique opportunity to see what the life of a Union soldier was on the eve of Christmas in 1864,” re-enactor Jeff Grzelak said of the 17th Connecticut Infantry.
