The Second in A Series on the 150th Anniversary of the Civil War

This is the second in a series on the 150th Anniversary of the Civil War month by month. It will show the times those folks lived in and the build up to war.

From February 1-23, 1861 the Texas convention votes, 166 to 8 for secession and calls for a popular vote to confirm it. Another step to war.

February 4, 1861 In Montgomery, Alabama, the convention of the Confederate States of America, with delegates from the first six seceding states. Assemblies with Howell Cobb of Georgia presided over the convention. On February 9th they elected Jefferson Davis of Mississippi provisional President and Alexander H. Stevens of Georgia Vice President.
