Then and now Honoring the Battle of Pea Ridge

Back then, thousands of men lost their lives in the fields and forests around Pea Ridge. This time, families and history buffs strolled casually in the exact spots where people had died so many years ago.

Back then was March 7-8, 1862. This time was the same days, only 147 years later in 2009, as the anniversary of the Battle of Pea Ridge was celebrated at the Pea Ridge National Military Park.

I was there with my family and our unit the N.W. 15th Arkansas Infantry. We had a wonderful time as we always do. The public is always asking questions and we do not mind answering them. Being able to camp and live as they did 147 years ago is a honor. I always hate coming home after a event since I do not miss the t.v. or phone ringing. I am glad that so many came out over the weekend and enjoyed themselves. I am looking forward to next year.
