Special exhibit to mark Honest Abe’s bicentennial birthday

Press Release

WOOSTER, OHIO РThe 200th anniversary of the birth of U.S. President Abraham Lincoln will be commemorated in a special exhibit that will open Feb. 1 at the Wayne County Historical Society.

The special exhibit, said chairman Gerry Payn, will focus not only on Lincoln, but the Civil War with which his presidency is inextricably linked. Payn said the last time the historical society presented an exhibit on the Civil War was a decade ago. He noted since that time many significant items the society holds in its collection concerning that conflict have been off exhibit, including the iconic bloodstained guidon carried by the 16th Ohio Volunteer Infantry which was mustered out of Wooster.
