Civil War Days returns to Fortuna

Cannon fire will ring through Fortuna when the friendly city hosts “living historians” again on Saturday and Sunday for Civil War Days.

The site and camps will open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday. Spectators will witness two re-enacted battles daily with infantry and artillery playing out a skirmish in the “War Between the States.” Battles will be at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Saturday, and 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Sunday. In between battles, attendees can tour the camps and meet soldiers, officers and civilians on both sides (and those caught in the middle) of the conflict.

In the past this has been a very exciting and informative weekend. The re-enactors are were informed on this time period and the culture of this time. I hope all come out and witness this wonderful event. Thanks again to all who had a hand in bringing this to our city.
