WHAT: On Thursday, November 19, the 2009 Dedication Day Ceremony will be live streamed on the Pennsylvania Abraham Lincoln Bicentennial Commission webpage at WWW.PALINCOLN.ORG The Dedication Day Ceremony is held annually at the Soldiers’ National Cemetery. In case of inclement weather, the location will be The Majestic Theater in Gettysburg.
We encourage you to be a part of what promises to be a proud and exciting day for the State of Pennsylvania and for our nation. Speakers will include Governor Edward G. Rendell and Academy Award-winning actor, Richard Dreyfuss. The webcast will include performances by “The President’s Own” United States Marine and a Naturalization Ceremony presented by the United States Citizenship and Immigrations Services.
Pennsylvania Congressman Todd Platts (PA-19) successfully introduced a resolution reaffirming the importance of Dedication Day and honoring the Gettysburg Address. HRES 736 was passed by a unanimous vote of U.S. House of Representatives on Tuesday, November 3, 2009.
