Greeley man to play Abraham Lincoln as part of Philharmonic show

When most students learn about Abraham Lincoln, even those in high school, they get a synopsis that includes the log cabin where he lived, the theater where he died and the Civil War and slavery in between.

Noel Johnston of Greeley hopes to fill in the gaps.

This week he’s traveled to Greeley schools performing as Lincoln, and he’ll do the same for a special concert performed by the Greeley Philharmonic Orchestra. The orchestra will perform Copland’s “Lincoln Portrait.” The world-famous piece is performed often by orchestras and a narrator (narrators have included Tom Hanks, President Barak Obama and James Earl Jones).
