La. Civil War skirmish re-enacted

The rattle of musket volleys, a cannon’s boom and the shouts of soldiers in blue and gray shattered the usually quiet grounds of Oakley Plantation as the 1863 Battle of Plains Store was re-enacted Saturday.

Dozens of Civil War re-enactors, male and female, young and old, mingled on the grounds of the historic mansion near St. Francisville in West Feliciana Parish where John James Audubon once created some of his spectacular bird paintings.
