Civil War resources meeting canceled tonight
February 1, 2010 | Posted by javal In 1866, a joint resolution of Congress authorized the compilation and publication of Civil War records. This massive undertaking eventually led to the publication of 128 books collectively referred to as “The War of the Rebellion: A Compilation of the Official Records of the Union and Confederate Armies,” or the “O.R.” The books, printed between 1881 and 1901, have been studied, argued over and cited by Civil War historians since publication.
