Volunteers needed to help clean up historic cemeteries
The Easton Cemetery Committee is inviting volunteers to help with the restoration of Gilbertown and Center Street cemeteries during a Clean-up Day April 10.
Ruth Shapleigh-Brown, executive director of the Connecticut Gravestone Network, will lead a clean-up workshop and provide instruction on how to clean and reset some of the fallen tombstones.
The goal is to clean and reset some of the unbroken headstones and footstones in these historic cemeteries right next to the Blue Bird Inn on Black Rock Turnpike.
