Civil War Re-Enactors Rescue Boaters, Search For Fourth Continues

A group of men aboard a replica of the CSS Albemarle, headed to a Civil War re-enactment, ended up saving three boaters whose boat had capsized…they were unable to locate a fourth boater.

The iron-clad was running way behind because of mechanical problems and just happened to be in the right place at the right time. Crew-members say they heard screams in the water on the Roanoke River Saturday in Bertie County and quickly realized what had happened.

The Albemarle managed to get the three on board, call 9-1-1 and waited there for the authorities. They told us, they couldn’t find anyone else in the water.
