Arts in the Park” at Wilson’s Creek National Battlefield will feature The
Back Porch Players on May 29nd, 2010, at 7:00 p.m.  Members of the Stickley
family make up the Back Porch Players, all of whom sing and play music from
the 1700s, 1800s and 1900s. They specialize in music from the Civil War

According to Superintendent Ted Hillmer, “This is our fifth year in giving
back to the community and volunteers that support the battlefield
throughout the year.  Furthermore, once you are at the battlefield,
enjoying the music, it is our intent to have you return and experience the
history of the Civil War that occurred in southern Missouri.”  With the
sesquicentennial occurring next year, all across the country our nation’s
irreplaceable battlefields – these tangible links to our shared history –
are threatened by inappropriate development.  Next year marks this special
event of the bloodiest conflict in our Nation’s history and, as we prepare
for this unique event in the history of the United States, it is an
opportune time to shine a spotlight on the places that tell America’s
story.  Come out, enjoy the music, and experience the only National
Battlefield within the State of Missouri.

All concerts are FREE and open to the public except for the June 12th
program, at the Ray House, where the regular tour road admission of $5.00
per person or $10.00 per car will apply.  Please bring blankets, lawn
chairs, and/or a picnic basket to the concerts.
