Lincoln campaign flag is a historical rarity

Flags will fly throughout Metro Detroit this weekend in honor of Independence Day. Few will be as storied — or as potentially valuable — as the one Margaret Loch of Macomb keeps in a safety deposit box and recently shared with Trash or Treasure.

“Sometime during the early ’80s I met two cousins for the first time in Crossville, Tenn.,” she wrote, explaining her possession and its history. “They were very old and had many old treasures. Of all I most admired the Lincoln flag.
