City seeks help to restore icon
July 2, 2010 | Posted by javal City Hall is looking for help from the state and a group of local philanthropists to fund the restoration of a downtown monument dedicated to people who fought in the Civil War.
The city will apply for a $150,000 grant from the state Environmental Protection Fund program to defray a majority of the estimated $200,000 cost to preserve, clean and restore the 50-foot-tall Soldier and Sailors monument.
