Natick Civil War monument to be repaired

Repairs to the Civil War Monument are set to begin soon, after selectmen approved a $16,600 contract last week to seal cracks in the obelisk on Natick Common that dates back to 1867.

The contract was awarded to Dario Fiorentini, which was the second lowest bidder. Town Procurement Officer Christopher Bradley said the company with the lowest bid, Gravestone Services, did not have the proper experience, so it was not determined to be a responsible bidder.
