Gordon earmarks federal funds for Stones River Battlefield project

The U.S. House of Representatives approved legislation last week that includes $500,000 of federal funds for the Stones River National Battlefield to pay for park improvements, according to a press release on Monday from Democratic Congressman Bart Gordon.

“Stones River is our top tourist attraction in Rutherford County, with more than a 250,000 visitors every year,” Gordon said, adding that because the 150th anniversary of the Civil War is just around the corner, the park is expecting a surge of visitors in the coming up months.
