On the battlefront near Vicksburg

The following comes from the archived letters and diary of Norborne G. Gray, who was a private in Company B, 9th Kentucky Regiment of the Confederate Army. Norborne was noted as a distinguished member of the Orphan Brigade and is on the Confederate Roll of Honor for action at the Battle of Chickamauga. This is the sixth column on Gray’s diary entries (The other entries were published on March 31, April 28, May 26, June 23 and July 21).
