Editorial: The case for tourism

Living in a place like ours, it’s common to encounter tourists. Whether they seek the immediate attractions in the Prince William area or are bound for Washington, folks who “aren’t from around here” frequently are here.

It’s easy to dismiss them. They’re asking for directions. Or want to know how to get somewhere. Or where to eat. Or … Do they think we look like a Zagat guidebook? Don’t they know we’ve just been sitting in traffic for what seemed like forever? Don’t they realize that, even though we live here, we may not know the most direct route to the Museum of This and Such on 14th Street?!?
