Monument set to be rededicated

lincolnvicksburgmemorial1The handiwork of a 19th century sculptor with Licking County ties will be the center of attention today in the rotunda of the state Capitol in Columbus.

The Lincoln-Vicksburg Memorial, which will be rededicated as part of an observance of President Abraham Lincoln’s 200th birthday, was completed by Thomas D. Jones, who lived in Granville during the mid-1800s.

The rededication will be the first item on the ceremony’s agenda, which begins at 10 a.m., according to the Statehouse Web site.
