Prescribed Burns Will Bring Back Smoke to Wilson’s Creek Battlefield
August 25, 2010 | Posted by javal Wilson’s Creek National Battlefield will be off limits Wednesday for some unconventional yard work: prescribed burns. Crews will be torching about 200 acres of the Civil War battle ground.
The National Park Service is readying a force of nearly 20 firefighters and 10 all terrain fire trucks to carefully weed out 200 acres of the battlefield — because that’s the way it looked before.
