‘A pretty sad state of affairs’

The National Park Service is trying to save the underutilized Freedom Transit bus system in Gettysburg, before federal operating dollars dry up in 2012.

Gettysburg National Military Park Superintendent Bob Kirby conceded that the three-year demonstration project has fallen well short of expectations, after recently celebrating its first year of service in the community. The Adams County Transit Authority is operating the three-route, fixed-loop system.
