Group to raise funds to revamp cannon
September 24, 2010 | Posted by javal Bent on restoring Gen. William Tecumseh Sherman’s cannon, a local group plans to take people back in time to raise money for the Civil War-era artillery’s revamp.
The group anticipates its upcoming dinner event and auction, with a Sherman re-enactor in attendance, will bring it a few thousand dollars closer to its goal of about $23,000. That number includes the cost of restoration and educational programming for schools.
