Bryson, I don't know, but probably the Confederates were removed quickly. I'm going on a tour of 1st Manassas on May 3, and will ask our guide. Widow

Bryson, That tour of 1st Manassas in May is sponsored by a preservation organization, the Friends of Fort Ward in Alexandria, VA. We're also hitting Ball's Bluff. I haven't been out to Manassas for at least a year. I understand they're doing a lot of tree removal to restore its appearance in 1861. Widow

For a good look at 1st Manassas, check Harry's blog at bullrunnings@wordpress.com. (Hope I got that right. If I didn't get it right, google bullrunnings.) Harry knows about all there is to know about Manassas. ole
