Just a reminder to all those who enjoy Civil War Living History
programs, that GRANT & BUCKNER will once again be appearing at Ft. Donelson. They will be there Feb. 18-19. On Saturday, you can meet both Generals at the NPS Visitor Center auditorium
and learn about just what brought these two former classmates & friends to this place, at Dover, Tenn. And on Sunday, at 1 PM the men will meet at the Dover Hotel where the surrender of the
Fort will take place, and you can be an eye witness to history.
In the past few years a lot of attention has been given by historians who have viewed the Battle of Ft. Donelson as where the North actually won the war. Bring your cameras. No admission fee, and a great chance to take a tour of the Battlefield. Visit Ft. Donelson on the internet to learn more or contact me through CWI.... Ulysses

Sir
Do you realise how fortunate you are to be able to attend such a function.
here in Oz we rely on 'The history Channel' (cable TV) for the odd program.
Do you know if the actual event is being filmed, and if so is it available/
Kindest regards
Bill Wyndham

Bill...I agree that it is frustrating being prohibited in attending some of the living history events we have here in the US. I feel most fortunate, of course, since I have
been privileged for the last 18 years or so to portray Gen. Grant on stage, in film and
in person to groups who want to know more about the Union General. I have appeared with BUCKNER since about 1996 and we have a large following. This year, a special program put on by the Blue-Grey Educational Assoc. is sponsoring the
Nashville Ride, accompanied by two authors who have written about Ft. Donelson, and the bus tour will visit both Ft. Henry & Donelson, being there during our appearances. I expect that several members of the BUCKNER family will be present again. My son portrays John Rawlins, Grants chief of Staff & Co-Adjutant. We stay at the Plantation Inn, a pre-civil war Plantation House adjacent to the Battlefield where the Union converted it to a hospital to treat their wounded. Privately owned, every
year we return with artifacts found on the property.
Although you can be with us in "spirit" only, I hope you search the internet for
a look at the Plantation Inn (Dover, Tn.) and the NPS Ft. Donelson website. If you
tend to support the Union. check out http://www.unionveteransunion.org. The program is filmed every year and photographed non-stop each year. Thanks for your note
and keep up your interest, albeit via long distance! Your Most Obedient Servant,
Ulysses

Ulysses -
We were hoping to make it up there for this event, but don't know for sure if we'll be able to. If we are, we'll take plenty of photo's to share with our readers. If we can't make it, and you have someone taking pictures, be sure to send them to CWi and we'll be glad to share them with everyone. Hope to see you there....
