Don't know if I've posted this before. Currently doing research on various USCT regiments - specifically the 4th, 7th, 19th, 40th which men from a nearby village here on Maryland's Eastern Shore were from - Unionville. Also, an ancestor was an officer in th 8th USCT. My question does anyone know of any books relating to the USCT troops and there service. Thanks, Doc C

Here are a couple to start with: Like Men of War (Noah Trudeau) Forged in Battle (Joseph Glatthaar) The Sable Arm (Dudley Cornish) The Negro in the Civil War (Benjamin Quarles) Black Soldiers in Blue (John Smith ed.) Also, you can download "Army Letters" by Oliver Wilcox Norton off of Google books. He was an officer in the 8th USCT.
