Given you still hear occasionally of folks today being killed from shells from the Civil War, I'd say the costs from 20th century wars will go on for at least 200 years and possibly 300. I saw that thing on how much it's going to cost to support vets and their families, but I don't think they think of how young some of the Civil War vets were when the war ended and how old they may have been when their last kid was born.
