I read this book over 10 years ago and think my rememory is playing tricks on me...
IIRC, McWhiney and Jamieson wrote that both sides had 5 battle where they inflicted 10% more killed and wounded than they sustained. But the battles that the CSA 'won' were fairly minor affairs but the battle that they 'lost' were huge and bloody.
They showed that the total CSA losses in their lop-sided 'wins' was about 50,000 and US casualties in theirs totaled only 10,000(?).
What were these lop-sided battles? Can anyone check for me? Also, my casualty figures seem off (or Fredericsburg does not make the list). Sorry for such an open-ended post
US
Cedar Mountain
Fredericksburg
Kennesaw Mountain
#4 ?
#5 ?
CS
Seven Days
Gettysburg
Atlanta
Franklin
#5 ?
Thanks,
HankC
