I have just joined up with you and thought I'd introduce myself. My name is Jim and currently reside in New York. While on active duty with the USAF in Maryland, I found ample time to indulge my passion for battlefield tramping including such hallowed ground as Gettysburg, Chancellorsville, Antietam, Manassas (1st and 2nd), the Wilderness (Spotsylvania was awesome!), and Fredericksburg to name a few. I have been reading discussions on this site and finally decided to join in. Oh, one more thing..if you get to Gettysburg during the summer months, treat yourself to a stop at O'Rorkes Pub on Steinwehr Ave. Good, inexpensive food (try the Shepherds Pie), cold beer and a fun place to be when the re-enactors are there. I look forward to my involvement and interaction with you all. "The South will rise again"!!

Hi Ole, originally I'm from Connecticut, but the Confederacy and its mystique has always fascinated me. And, as they say, Yankee is a place of birth, Southern is a state of mind.

Yes, but extremely primitive. The show was about Mosby and his rangers (but Hollywood versions, of course). However it was fun to watch as Mosby (played by Tod Andrews) befuddled the Yanks on a weekly basis.

....at least that is what I was told by the owneer of the property. And my barber told me he was the sole survivor of Little Big Horn. Somehow, property owners seem to rank in veracity right up there with barbers. ole

I think I'm caught up with sleep now. I can't remember what O'Rorkes was before, but it had a different Irish name and was run by a great guy named Bud. The Shepard Pie was great then too. My mealtime routine at Gettysburg: Breakfast - The Avenue, either the omelets or the S*** -on-a-shingle. Lunch - Coconut Shrimp at the Gingerbread. Dinner - Shepard Pie at O'Rorkes, except on a special occassion when it's Game Pie at the Farnsworth House. And cocktails at the Mine. Gotta go - getting hungry. Welcome Rebel...

I remember the tv series. There was also a Disney series with Mosby as a background story. Kurt Russell was in it. Susan
