I am a native New Yorker and I got hooked on the Civil War when I was in Elementary School. (30 something years ago).
I have visited Gettysburg and I can remember standing on Cemetery Ridge and picturing Pickett's Charge. I could almost hear it!
It fascinates me how sometimes if events had occurred a little differently, the outcome of a battle, campaign or the whole war could have changed!
