BArre Vermont though that may have been a sub contract factory. Dad was a bit vague on the details. Though he grew up in Lockport so it could have been the above mentioned (Buffalo) one as well. Neil Last edited on Sun May 4th, 2008 12:29 am by 1stsgtmacmillan

The Baptist church I attend started a program last Memorial day to raise the funds to sponsor an Honor Flight. We were able to raise the $10,000 to allow WW II vets and their caregivers transportation by air to Washington D C and allow them to see the memorial. "Our" flight went two weeks ago and two of our members were able to participate. We were able to see the photos this week. Right now the plan is to wait a year and do it again. The reason we are waiting is due to fuel cost $10, 000 may not cover future flights.

I was down in Savannah last week and visited the 8th Air Force museum. It was excellent and one could easily spend half a day in there.

Fortunately the flight museum in Galveston seemed to weather the hurricane well. it's a mess but not a disaster. The whole area where it sits near Moody Gardens,is still underwater from the gulf to the bay. I spent some time in Galveston in May, ironically for the state hurricane conference, and it blows me away to see the devestation and flooding there.

i have currently been trying to do a little family research and have started with my great uncle, PFC James Arthur Stone. as i believe i said in an earlier post he fought in Normandy, France and took a grenade to the face and it blew off his jaw and he died 11 days later.
i was wondering if anybody knows how i can obtain any medals he may have won??? he didn't have a wife or any children and as far as i know none of my family members have any medals of his.

Dixie, start w/ the VA. Another option that may well be the best is go to your local Legion & VFW halls and ask. You might be suprised what you find.
