I get American Civil War Magazine and on the back cover I see a Game called
The Civil War (A Nation Divided) and I am not sure I have ever seen this one before.
It is endorsed by the History Channel. Is this the same one that the History Channel
endorsed some years ago brought out by CatDaddy that really was bad. It says it is by Activision but I can find nothing on it on the Activision Site or the History Channel Site..Anybody know?
Thanks
Sal

I saw this game also in Uncle wally's emporium this last weekend . After further Investigation on some gaming websites . I have found it is released on the PS2 format and is from activision like you said , but looks by discription it is a first person shooter like doom ect. so might not be for the civil war stratigic gamer. It does have a 8.4 out of 10 rating with 25 people that have rented the game from gamefly.

Thanks Younglobo for the information...It looked to me to be first person also..It shows in the magazine that it has come out on all platforms but I have not seen it anywhere yet..That score does not seem bad and I agree that it may not be for the stratigic gamer. If anyone else has seen or played this game could ya post here about it. I love all civil war games but some just are really bad. I bought Take Command 2nd Manassas and so far it is one the most enjoyable to play. One of my favorites is Talonsoft Battleground Series which is played more like miniture wargaming..The live action of Take Command it a lot more exciting as the results can vary and the AI seems to be pretty good. The Talonsoft Battleground Series works great when playing a live opponent but the AI is really not that great as I have beaten them all pretty simply. A human rival makes the game a whole lot more fun because all of the sudden stratagy is applied to it..Well thanks Again Suh

Hey,
I'm a new member and just read your question about the Civil War: A Nation Divided by the History Channel. I heard about this just a couple of days ago and so I did some research. I found that alot of people are disappointed with this game.
Some guys said that there are just to few guys around for it to feel like a battle, but then again, do you want whole armies shooting at you? Also, there were some complaints about how there were so many Gatling guns in the levels. I saw some of the screenshots and the graphics look fine, but this is probably not a game for strategists, it's meant for guys who are sick and tired of WWII shooting games.
Now some of the games I have got some O.K. reviews, but I like them just fine. You may be the same way, but I'd just warn you to search for some more information on the game if you're thinking about getting it.

I rented this game from a well now provider on the web, and played it for the first time last nite only got through the 1st mission. It is indeed a first person shooter, it is fun due to the fact that you are armed with a pistol which has 6 shots and a rifle that has 5 rounds then it takes considerable time to reload, which means you have to make shots count better, but it is not very good at historical accuracy . But it does tell some about the battles before and after each mission so maybe some folks will learn somethings they didnt know when they think they are getting a first person shooter like doom ect.

I got this game for my birthday. The only thing I dont like is the fact that it takes to long to reload. It leaves you very vulnerable to enemy fire.Overall it is a good game.

yeah bama I thought it lent to the accuracy of the game, Kind of better than reenacting still get to fight dont have to clean the guns, pack the gear ect (LOL im getting lazy in my old age) if they just had a mounted fight that would rock.

Hey guys, my friend has the game and i like it except like Dixie Girl said it takes forever to reload and also it takes three or four shots to kill a guy. If you shoot him in the head, it takes one shot. But, all in all, its a good game.

I enjoyed it as a "change of pace" from all the other shooter games out there. Having to play with "less than the best" weapons was something that happened daily in the war. But overall I enjoyed the game.
By the way-my PS2 copy is available if someone wants it!
