Glad we didn't step on toes.  I love the idea of a funniest reeenacting moments thread.  Last year at Prado Dam the Confederates found a civilian male in the Civilian camp and put him under arrest.  He was the boy friend of one of the young girls in the camp.  He was accused of being a spy.  The girls were grabbing him and pulling him away from the soldiers.  This was going on right behind  our table for the Drum.

Some of the Union soldiers had gone to get something to eat.  They came wandering back and were stopped by guards at the entrance to the tent area.    Finally after alot of screaming and pulling on the young man the girls won.  They bribed the Confederates with home made cookies and earn the young man's release.

I sat in the booth and watched the whole even , laughing my head off.  .

ok I thought of another one dont know if this is a funny moment but it was a heck of alotta fun.

My Cav. Unit was in Cabin Creek, OK event a few years back and on of our fellow MCWRA Units (missouri Civi War Rennactor assoc.) had just purchased a new Guidon/ Unit Colors and they were REALLY proud of it. As we were camped next to them we had heard about this flag all morning and afternoon on Sat. so that evening about dusk one of my commrades and I went into there camp and asked rather Slyly "could we borrow your new co. colors a second, our unit is very impressed with yours and would like to show it to our men and try to collect money to buy one for ours?" Well we were given said colors walked to our camp and  through a small stand of trees , which had waiting on the other side  our company Saddled up and ready to ride , we gave our standard bearer  said colors put him in front of the colum and our SGT. lead us on a raid  in which we rode at a full gallop through the Union camp shouting the yell and shooting our pistols. Then we went back to camp and returned the colors quietly to the owners . LOL you should of seen the look on there faces when the Reenactment Police came looking for the colpurits , which they denied of course to which said police replied "It had to be you they were carring your Colors"!!!. Everytime I hear the song "Riding a raid I think of that event. good times

LOL whooped em again Josey

Wait now I have a new one for favorite movie quotes too

This is from a friend who is an NPS volunteer at the Richmond sites, as an artilleryman at living-history events.

Seems a rich young man wanted to play soldier, so he bought his own gun.  His friends joined him in the fun.  They brought the gun to Fort Harrison for a living-history event, but didn't have a clue what to do with it.

Pretty soon they strolled over to my friend's gun crew and asked, "Could you come over and show us to to shoot that thing?"

Sometime later, those same fellas were getting drunk.  So the NPS rangers told them to leave and never come back.

And that's why there is always a safety refresher class in the spring before the outdoor event season begins.  And why only NPS volunteers are allowed near anything with black powder in it.

Fools. I hate people who do that...

I carried the flag my first few reenactments cause I wasn't trained enough. So I got a better understanding of my firearms.

I got a P53 Enfield, I love it to death...

But yeah, If you wanna see what its like to be a soldier go ask one before you do it...its what I did.. of course I'm the baby in my company at 19. LOL Trying to get some HS buddies involved..

LOL Unfortunately my first reenactment of the year is next weekend. And its also my Senior prom...so I'm deserting for the evening and night... Thats gonna be fun in the morning -makes a hesitant face- So... Were probably gonna do a Excution of a Deserter Sunday morning if my Captain runs it threw the committy of course I'm up to it... Plus my gal be there watching... LOL She said it be funny if I did...

Long Live Missouri!

I got a new story for y'all...

Alright first one is this weekend at Mahaffie Station in Olathe, KS..

Me and my buddy paul where the rear guards for our retreated Confederate Brigade... So me and him looked at each other and did the... "Charge!" look. So we reloaded and armed so we ran at full speed at a group of Yankee Engineer Skirmishers and fired about 10-15 ft... away And slid and fell smack on my back...on my canteen... My back hurts like a bitch.. We broke a rule... I got my ass chewed by my captain who happened to be the Colonel for the weekend. So Me and him gave our final charge. Giving our rebel yell...w/ 2 ppl and charged fired and I took a wound shot he died... So I crawled over to him and put his cap over his face... A yank said, "Well look there one of em made it threw that volley can we kill him captain?" The captain said no.. I crawled about 3 feet before a private said, "Fuck this shit.. He killed my brother at Lexington... So he came up behind be and rifle butted me in the back of the neck.. I just plopped and slept for the last 10 mins of the battle.

Then the other is when I was talking to this guy about being in some movies and such I went to get my picture. So I was talking to an ex-deputy of Olathe who was reenacting out there so I thought I turned my damn rifle which I didn't I turned around and SMACK right in my lower lip... I hit my lip. I cut a 2/3 inch slash in my lip all the way threw... The little girls getting a picture where historical.. The Deputy looked at me and said, "Benjamin your bleeding.." I looked down at my hand which i went to wipe blood on my chin... I looked at my hand.. The deputy asked, "You feeling alright?" I was getting dizzy and I said, "I don't think I feel so good... I think I'm going to pass out..." MY knees wobbled apparently and he caught me before I hit the ground and then I recovered about 2 minutes later with 30 people leaning over me.. The dude that I was talking about being in the movie went..DAMN! You got nailed... But The EMT's came I bit threw my lip... I'm on a liquid diet till next week...

...Not happy lol...

So I got my brand new Colombus Depot Uniform all dirty and bloody for its first wear...

Younglobo.. where you at Mahaffie?

So ya I got 4 stiches on my chin...

Well I'm gonna hit the pile of hay...

Yes I was at Mahaffie .

Did you do your above charge toward the union lines on SUN. I was Union cav.(galvinized)  Sun and was assualting the cannons , and i look over and see these 2 confed dismounted cav. (they were using pistols) running all alone toward the union line kind of a suicide charge, course looked really cool.

Thought of another cool story

I also reenact with Friends of the Anderson House , which is a group that helps support the Lexington,MO.  battle site , we do livin history and other stuff there for the visitors. One year we were doing what we call war on the western border , which is were the Anderson family is having a party/picnic and I being capt. of the union redlegs give them a hard time pushing them around ordering the house to be searched stealing silver and the like , at one point in the senerio one of the confed ladies starts hitting one of my men with her fan and i ask him why he cant control his prisioner and shout out "this is how you treat southern women" and put a BIG old kiss on he lips, LOL you should of seen the crowd mouths drop in shock . Of course none of these visitors/crowd know that this " Southern ladie" is my wife of ten years . LOL it was priceless.  Wife said that was the most i had kissed her in One day , once every 30 minutes.

:)

I am working up getting to know George Sears Greene so when I get my financial act together, I can reenact as a some one right around my age, and not have to worry about hiding gray hair, mustache et all.

The interesting thing is going to try and pull of acting like I actually know what I am doing as a Brig Genl (Greenes largest command was a division at Antietam/Sharpsburg).. So if any of you have any suggestions on what commands I better know so I dont embarrasss mysefl! Chuckle. Now that could be a funny moment!

And congrats Patty.. You have to send pictures!
