Does anyone have information aboutht the 6th TN Union Cavalry, commanded by Col. Fileding Hurst? They were raised in McNairy County, Tennessee.
My great-great-grandfather was Sgt. Henry V. Flowers of that unit. His mother Jane (Partridge) was from N. Carolina. Also, any info on the Partridge family of McNairy County TN is appreciated!
Any photgraphs, even from re-unions, and/or other information is appreciated!
I've gotten some stuff off "google" and even a short book about the 6th TN.

For some reason, I never could find where Henry V. Flowers applied for a pension (he died in 1922, so I know that he had plenty of opportunity to apply).
I'll keep searching and I appreciate all of y'all help!!

Albert, here is some information that you might already have. If you haven't seen it, then it does some good. If you have, then it does no harm.
First, here is the gravesite of Fielding Jackson Hurst. I believe him to be the same Hurst who commanded the 6th Tennessee Cavalry (US).

Second, here is some regimental history for the 6th Tennessee Cavalry (US):

Third, here is a list of ten Partridge gravesites in Tennessee, again courtesy of http://www.findagrave.com. The first one listed is Arlington Partridge, who died at the age of six and is buried in McNairy County. He was the son of B.F. and Jennie Partridge, and probably ties in somewhere.

Thanks!...Those sites you sent will certainly come in helpful!
Some of my family is also buried in Mt Gilead Cemetary (as Fielding Hurst), though it's been years since I've been there (I, unfortunately, left TN 7 years ago). The grave for Hurst that you found is, indeed, the same Fielding Hurst. For some reason, there is no mention on his grave that he was Col. of the 6th....only that he served as a judge.

Is it the same book that was published a few years ago by Three Star Press? If it is, then I ordered it a few years ago (maybe 6 years, now). I greatly enjoyed reading it, but I loaned it to my sister who swears gave it back to me. Needless to say, it's now missing. I tried to "google" Three Star Press, but to no avail.
Does the new book have good photographs?

WOW, Kevin! I like your website, the photos of Hurst Mansion (I found the "ghost" story in the on-line version of the McNairy County paper, but got upset when all I could see was the front page, the on-line version doesn't allow to read more than the cover. On the other hand, based on your blog of the story, maybe I should be glad I couldn't see it!!...heehee).
Do you know any members of the Flowers family in McNairy County? I'd desperately love to get a copy of any photos, even copise of photos of the 6th TN to hang in my library.

May be old hat to you now, but try Googleing Hurst's Nation, and Purdy, Tennessee. Seems that the 6th was high on Forrest's *hit list.

Yep...Forrest despised him!!...It's ironic that my gg grandfather was in the 6th, and I like Forrest!!
