I'm sure some on the forum has this book in their collection. It was recommended to me recently. I will have to order this book from the USA so I would rather have more than one recommendation before I purchase it.

Would it be useful for me as a figure painter and uniformologist?

Not really in either sense in my opinion, there are other less expensive works out there that I think would do you better.

Thank you Johan, I'll score that one off the list then.

In a similar vein I've ordered this book.

It was only £3.75 about $7.60 I think so aren't too bothered if I've bought a pig in a poke but I'd be interested in your opinions.

Roger, here are some outstanding vendors & I believe each has photos of their wares which are closely modeled on originals in color & construction. Might be a useful set of resources for you.

BTW under $10 for a book... can't be bad. At worst it will save you a trip to the store for some toilet paper or kindling for your grill.

Whoops the link to the book didn't work. It is The American Civil War Recreated In Color Photographs.

Thanks for the links Johan, they will come in useful and are bookmarked.

Cheers,
