This book is purely from the military viewpoint.  Don't expect anything about his personal life or his days in Ireland and Arkansas.  The author himself writes on the back of the dustjacket, "The direction and focus here remain on the military and political aspects of his service while avoiding the social or personal sidelights found in a general biography."

This book is full of tactical details about troop movements.  If you like that sort of thing then you will enjoy this book.  If you aren't a big fan of such information then I wouldn't recommend picking this up.  However, the few maps in the book are extremely simplistic and don't really help to make sense of the text.  Plus, I didn't really discover much information that can't be found in other published books.

Overall, I still think Craig Symonds' book is the best out there on Cleburne.
