Hello all, I wanted to let everyone on here know that I have just put up my first book on the history of the 57th North Carolina in the Civil War. It also is full of war letters from James Calvin Zimmerman of Co D. Along with official reports and officers first hand acounts of the battles the 57th NC fought it. I took this on as I a had family that fought in the 57th and was working on the history of the unit. And David Zimmerman, gg-grandson of J.C. Zimmerman had his familys war letters. So now they got lumped together in this offering. And to date there has not been anything written on just the history of this unit. While they started in 1862, they saw all parts of the war and were right in the middle of most all of the big and small battles of the war. Please follow the link to my new book. http://www.lulu.com/content/339149 And if you enjoy Civil War reenacting, come out and see the 57th NC in the filed. The Official website is http://www.geocities.com/anv57regnc . If you bring your copy of the book to any event on our schedule, I would be more then happy to sign it for you. Thank you for helping me keep the memory of these me alive. Major William Hartley Commanding Officer 57th North Carolina-Reenactment Unit

Since we are plugging new books I wanted to recommend one from one of the Members of the Orange County Roundtable. Dave Shultz has a new book out from Ironclad Publishing. The book is titled The Battle Between the Farmlanes: Hancock Save the Union Center Gettysburg July 2, 1863. Dave is a walking encyclopedia on Gettysburg artillery. He and Richard Rollins wrote several books on the subject before Rich died. I saw Dave stand in for a speaker that got lost in the pouring rain a year ago here in Southern California. We had a packed room no speaker , Dave was asked to step in . With no notes he held the audience in the palm of his hand talking about the letters he had read , quoting verbatium from them about Gettysburg. He spoke for an hour. I am sure this new book will be well worth the time to read it . I am looking forward to gettig a copy. He has promised to bring some to the round table next month. Check it out.
