I've gotten an interest in the guerrilla warfare that was happening along the missouri and kansas border. Being from that area, alot of towns around me was involved in it. I went to the library and found a couple of books on it, one is "Bloody Bill Anderson" by Castel and Goodrich, another is "Quantrill's War....The life and times of William Clarke Quantrill" by Duane Schultz. I also got "Noted Guerrillas of the Warfare of the Border" by John Edwards. Has anyone read these and are they any good? I'm reading the one on Quantrill now, but not too far into it. I'd also like some suggestions on some good ones on this subject. I know, I'm pushing it for a newbie that hasn't contributed anything yet. Thanks

Black Flag Warefare is a good one too. I will have to look on the shelf and see who the author is unless someone knows it and post. Frank and Jesse James by Ted Yeatman is also good. I will think of some more later.

Yeah thats a good start right there. My family rode with Quantrill and marched with the Missouri Brigade so I'm pretty familar with the border war. I got too many damn books to read about... Basically me (a 19 year old) and my great uncle (71) have a rather large library. But if you really wanting to see what the border wars were like.. theres some upcoming reenactments. (Might help understand) Mahaffie Stagecoach Station in Olathe, KS April 21-22 (From what I know since my unit is sponsering it. Shelby's 5th MO will be there and also I think Quantrill's Paritsan Riders will be there I believe. I'm infantry so lol I'm left in the dust) Clinton, MO A raid on the Court house. April 28-29 MOCONFED

THe Devil knows how to ride by Edward Leslie is one of the best on Quantrill. Also anything by ALbert Castel or Goodrich are interesting. If your intrested in Quantrill dont forget to watch A Ride with the Devil.
