Meade did well at Gettysburg. Gets appointed as the Army of the Potomac's commander and 3 days later fights and defeats Lee in the bloodiest battle of the war. You have to give him props on that one. But he refused to go on the offensive afterwards. During the chase of Lee's army to Appomattox Grant got frustrated with his lack of going for the kill instinct. I got mixed feelings on him.

I think Meade was competant, professional and exactly what Lee did not want to face.
