I know this sounds nuts, but here goes anyway. Do any of you know where I can find little Civil War outfits for very small dogs-- a rat terrior and a Brussles Griffon? Or at least a Civil War kepi or floppy hat with officers' insignia, preferably Union.

Is there a place on line I can check?

Man, I wish I could think of something clever to say, but I guess I'm just barking up the wrong tree (see, I told you I couldn't think of anything clever to say!).

Best

Cleburne Fan,

This has caught my fancy!  So far, all I've found is this:

http://search.stores.ebay.com/SASSY-PETWEAR_civil-war_BOY-HARNESS-SHIRTS_W0QQfcdZ2QQfciZQ2d1QQfclZ4QQfromZR10QQfsnZSASSYQ20PETWEARQQfsooZ1QQfsopZ1QQfsubZ4QQsaselZ186003810QQsofpZ0

The harness is not spectacular, but I rather like the dress there.

Have found a promising site, but am having trouble with the conncection, I'll try again later.

Also, I know of an excellent seamstress whom is wonderful about historical accuracy in her CW line - and she loves a challenge!  Would you like me to look up her info for you?

Once you have dressed your doggies, I want pictures!

Joanie

I have a Chichahua, Brussels Griffon, Min Pin and a Pit Bull.  I need all shapes and sizes of doggie gear.

I hope they don't also produce dog-sized muskets. I've only recently overcome my childhood fear of dogs.

Joannie Reb, thanks for the research. I checked that site out and really want a hat and some other acoutrements. I sew too and hadn't even thought of sewing an outfit for the dogs myself. But your friend might have more authentic fabrics, etc.

Joshua, wow! You have quite a gang of dogs. I bet they are adorable.

Joannie Reb, these dogs aren't mine. They are my son's and his fiance's. But I wanted to change my avatar here and thought little Fritzie and Murphy in Civil War attire would be so cute. Hey! One could be Union and one Confederate! Why not?

They were both just at the local St Patrick's Day parade dressed like little leprechuans.

You mean you don't arm your dogs in the UK?  How do you teach them to hunt?

Seriously - type "dog shoots man" into your computer's search engine, and sit back and see what happens.  Gives a whole new meaning to "beware of the dog".
