Watching Taking Chance with Kevin Bacon on HBO. Great film thus far on how we deal with our fallen soldiers. What really strikes me is the contrast how we deal with our current fallen heroes compared with how we dealt with those kia during the cw, i.e. Gettysburg, etc. Coco's book A Strange and Blighted Land describes, unfortunately, how little care was given initially to those who died on both sides during Gettysburg. We've come a long way since then. We don't do enough to honor those individuals who have been wounded or kia. Doc C

If we ever got in a war where thousands died in a battle versus a handful, I think the care would decline again. Big differnece in technology and infrastructure but a bigger difference in the sheer numbers.
