Hi Scout and welcome. I am not as knowledgeable of the Shenandoah Valley area as many of our compatriots on this board, but I do highly recommend a visit to the New Market Battlefield. Last time I was there, we followed the route of the VMI cadets from their starting position on Shirley's Hill up to their assault through the "Field of Lost Shoes" where they took the union cannon. It was a very moving experience. Ensure that you have time to visit the Hall of Valor, it is small but worth seeing. Let me know if you go to Gettysburg or Antietam...I can definitely recommend some good places for you.
