 When I visited the valley I stayed in Staunton at the Best Western.  Nice hotel and an old fashion coffee shop next door that was a hoot to visit. 

Do not miss New Market and the Hall of Valour .  You will not have a dry eye either place. 

Are you going to Lexington ?  Stonewall Jackson's home, his grave site and VMI are all there . 

Staunton for a change of pace has a great Shakespeare theatre .  Looks like the Blackfiars Theatre of Shakespeare's time and they do it the way Shakespeare would have. 

Have a great trip.  There is a visitors center in Lexington that has all kinds of ideas too.
