Hello Scout If you're heading to Antietam, be sure to stop off at Harper's Ferry. Not only is it rather historically important, it's stunningly beautiful, especially from Maryland Heights if a little steep. Whether you then decide to hike from Harper's Ferry to Antietam depends on what you make of AP Hill. The Shenandoah Park is beautiful, although all the hikes I did there involved going down and up the ridge a lot. Unless I have the maps in front of me I don't think I can describe the routes we took, but the trails, even in the more out of the way parts, are well marked.
