See David Hackett Fischer's book: Albion's Seed. He sources the VA migration. It's a little more likely your Lightfoots were recruited by Gov. Wm. Berkeley who took over ca. 1642. The English Civil War was in progress and Berkeley specifically recruited members of the British aristocracy and gentry to emigrate to VA, for it was not doing well as a colony. I believe the Lightfoots are specifically mentioned. Most of these families came from SW England.
