Southern Son, what a fun discovery. Were they actually in the house? Maybe somebody found (or bought) them elsewhere and stashed them for safekeeping? Did the house exist before the Civil War? It might be a good idea to have your artifacts appraised by a reputable dealer. If they really are valuable, it would be wise to have them insured. Also ask the dealer the best way to protect them from light, moisture, skin oils, etc. Handle them with plastic or cotton gloves, for starters.
