Southern Son, the strongbox is OK to protect the artifacts from light, but you can't be sure if they are properly protected from moisture, skin oil, etc. There is a mild acid in skin oil, as well as minute amounts of sweat, which has salt. The locket might be more vulnerable to such damage than the button and insignia. You would feel so bad if you opened it up in a few years and discovered . . . Ask a dealer for advice. Another source of info would be a museum. Think of it as preventive medicine. Regards, Patty
